Continuing our focus to bring OpenStack information across the globe, we’ve teamed up with CONNECT 2015, a large event in Melbourne, Victoria to host a daylong pow-wow on OpenStack on April 21.

We’re excited to be a part of CONNECT, which is developed for business people to understand how the convergence of a number of technology mega-trends are creating a perfect storm of disruption which will impact the way we live and do business in the future.

The day dedicated to OpenStack is specifically designed for cloud leaders, technology decision-makers and heads of infrastructure and innovation who want to learn more about OpenStack; discuss the benefits of open source and its community; and outline concrete steps that businesses can take to decide if an OpenStack Cloud is right for them.

With that in mind, the agenda is packed full of OpenStack leaders – from the Foundation to enterprise users. Randy Bias, currently VP of Technology at EMC and a well-known and outspoken supporter of OpenStack, will keynote. Board Director Tristan Goode, CEO of Aptira, will moderate a panel of super users and speak on what is on the horizon for the project.

The breadth of users illustrate the flexibility of the software to support differing needs and scale. Each is operating a production OpenStack cloud.

  • A local enterprise – Erez Yarkoni of Telestra
  • A large enterprise – David Medberry of Time Warner Cable
  • A hosting company – Mike Dorman of Go Daddy
  • A research organization – Glenn Moloney from the NeCTAR project at the University of Melbourne

Speakers from each of these companies will share their use cases and experiences with OpenStack.

They will be joined by OpenStack luminaries Michael Still, senior software development manager at Rackspace and the project team lead for Nova Compute – the primary OpenStack project; and Tom Fifield, community manager from the OpenStack Foundation. Presenters from Foundation ecosystem companies round out this impactful agenda. Red Hat and Brocade are immersed in OpenStack, simultaneously creating their OpenStack-based products and services and contributing the knowledge gained to the software through participation in the community process.
