What kinds of applications are being built or run on your OpenStack cloud?
The range of GoDaddy’s services both public and private are running (or in the process of migrating to) our OpenStack cloud. This includes hosting products, core customer offerings, and our overall web experience.
How has OpenStack transformed your business?
OpenStack has made our developer experience amazingly better – it has brought joy to our devs! They are no longer cutting tickets and waiting weeks or even months for hardware. A few clicks or an API call and in less than a minute, you now have production ready resources. Our new product velocity has increased, and we’ve driven down infrastructure costs significantly, saving millions.
How has Go Daddy participated in or contributed to the OpenStack community?
The team at GoDaddy has delivered Summit talks, attended meet-ups in California and Colorado, including the ops mid-cycle and is active in the large deployers group & ops forums. The team has also contributed multiple code contributions and reviews going back to the Havana timeframe.
What is the scale of your OpenStack deployment?
There are three regions today around the world and a fourth in flight. Thousands of virtual machines (VMs), hundreds of projects, consistent VM month-to-month growth of over 25 percent and over 13 million customers using these services, also powering production as well as pre-production and dev workloads.
